Who coined the term? Empty Who coined the term?

Just today I noticed an old tape of mine simply titled 'Titty Shakers', and I'd dated it 2003. This seems like ages ago now. Does anyone know who actually came up with the name? I'm thinking it was Mark Allbones. But I could be wrong. But tit does sound like his kind of caper Twisted Evil

I picked it up from Bones, I was in New York in May of 2002 and the term tittyshaker was already a (cheeky) constant in my record vocabulary, I remember Mr Fine Wine was doing a show in a strip club with two dancers and I wrote in a blog of the time that he spun some excellent french yé yé / tittyshaker 45's.

I'd imagine it was something that Bones created. Should ask him really.

Of course he will say it's him, his ego won't allow it otherwise Smile although until there is a section in HMV entitled 'Tittyshakers' like Keb Darge did with 'Deep Funk' it can't be claimed that a REAL genre has been created. Perhaps that's a good thing?! Who knows but I for one would be well chuffed if it DID happen Smile

Ego? Me? Some people are just awesome and some aren't. I'm DADD¥ BON€$ and I am awesome. FACT.

I started calling these records 'tittyshakers' when the Las Vegas Grind LPs appeared in the early 90s - it hardly took a huge leap of creative imagination - but I wouldn't go around claiming I'd coined a phrase. Maybe I did coin it inadvertantly, but it doesn't matter.

I only joined this forum to let all the members know that Gerald Short has a really small penis.

Thank you for your contribution Mr Bones. I think you can claim to be the originator of the term 'tittyshaker'.

And with regards to the penis comment, have you been spying on me getting undressed again? I really must remember to lock the ladder in the garage and close my bedroom curtains more tightly.

You're welcome. Nice one for the original post: "But tit does sound like his kind of caper," by the way.

Love a pun, mate.

seems these labels are designed to allow soul boys to play rock n roll records..
Freakbeat was another.. this one allows mods to play rock n roll records..
Though i,ve never understood the connection between rockabilly and northern soul..ah it just needs to be rare!
Please beware of rock n roll deniers and keep posting the great tunes
